Get Involved
Local elections are won by volunteers. Not donations โ volunteers. Here's where you come in.
Ways to Help
Pick what fits your schedule and comfort level โ every role makes a real difference.
Canvassing
Walk your neighborhood with a fellow volunteer. You'll have a list of registered Democrats and a simple script โ we provide training.
Canvassing is the single most effective way to turn out voters. You'll go out in pairs, knock on doors in your own precinct, and have real conversations with your neighbors. No experience required โ we do a 20-minute orientation before every shift. Most canvasses run Saturday or Sunday mornings, 10amโ1pm, in the weeks leading up to an election. You set your own pace; if you knock 10 doors or 40, it counts.
Phone Banking
Call registered Democrats to remind them about upcoming elections, recruit volunteers, or conduct surveys โ from the comfort of your own home.
Phone banking has gone digital โ you can do it from your couch with just your personal phone and a laptop. We use a simple auto-dialer that handles the calling list for you. Sessions run about 2 hours and are scheduled in the evenings, usually Tuesday and Thursday. You'll reach voicemails more often than live people, which is fine โ leaving the right message matters. We'll give you a script and answer any questions before you start.
Host a House Party
Open your home for an informal gathering โ a chance for neighbors to meet local candidates, ask questions, and connect with each other.
A house party doesn't have to be fancy. It can be 8 people around a kitchen table or 30 on a back porch. You provide the space; we help you invite people, connect you with a speaker (candidate or committee member), and give you talking points. Events usually run 90 minutes. They're one of the best ways to build real relationships and turn interested neighbors into committed supporters.
Poll Work
Serve as a Democratic poll watcher or greeter on Election Day โ a paid position through Chester County that ensures fair elections in our precincts.
Poll watchers are registered with the county and trained by the Democratic Committee. You'll be stationed at your precinct polling place from 7am to 8pm on Election Day (you can sign up for a half-day shift). Chester County pays poll workers directly. It's one of the most meaningful things you can do โ a visible, legitimate presence that keeps things honest. We'll walk you through the paperwork and process.
Run for Committeeperson
Committeepersons are the grassroots core of the Democratic Party โ elected representatives who organize their precinct, turn out voters, and vote on party endorsements. We have open seats right now.
